A barrel sock is becoming the widely accepted safe method to ensure a gun is 'safe' whilst in the base camp. Most, if not all saftey concious sites now insist on these being used. The sock simply sits over the end of the barrel with the elastic resting over the handle to ensure it is tight and secure.
